Keti Koti Festival Amsterdam
What is it?
An annual cultural festival and national commemoration marking the abolition of slavery in Suriname and the Dutch Antilles on July 1, 1863. The day begins with a solemn parade and ceremony (Bigi Spikri) and transitions into joyous celebration featuring music, food, marketplace stalls, and community events on Museumplein and in Oosterpark.
